Prior to its incorporation into quasi-magical systems and traditions, the Kabbalah formed the basis of the Hebrew (Semitic) spiritual mysticism that originated in Mesopotamia and from the Anunnaki-based sources…
[This blog adaptively extracted from “Enochian Magic & Kabbalah“ by Joshua Free. The Liber-K materials are also available in the Mardukite Year-4 anthology, “History of the Necronomicon“ and the mega-anthology NECRONOMICON GNOSIS.]
…It was not until the later Christian-ruling period of the Dark Ages that the Kabbalah became an ‘esoteric’ part of the ‘underground’ traditions of counter-culture magicians and sorcerers.
To the Hebrew (or Jewish) people today, the QBL (Qabala) simply came from “God”, or rather the ‘voice of God’ as the angel Metatron. In the Anunnaki lore predating the same versions from the same locales, we find this ‘force’ to instead be attributed to the scribe of the gods, observed as NABU in the Babylonian (Mardukite) system, or in others as the “Mercurial-Thoth-Hermes” archetypal current.
In essence, the Kabbalah (and its origins) always comes from a godly source and is composed of knowledge of the gods that would otherwise be ‘forbidden’ for humans to be given comprehension of. Even today, if I were to be of a Judeo-Christian purist mind, I would not be even setting such words onto paper or exploring these mysteries for public benefit at all, nor would the subject of God be explored in this sense – which is of course, blasphemy and heretical.
Given the wide range of devotion found not only in the most ancient interpretations of the Anunnaki traditions while still being observed in their prehistoric forms in Babylon and Sumer (and surrounding areas), but also throughout the evolving history of spiritual tradition, it can be incredibly difficult to always plot a one-to-one comparison of the varying worldviews.
When examining the plethora of magical books, esoteric grimoires, varying ‘keys’ of Solomon, Abramelin, or whoever else, we find reoccurring signposts that return us to the original Anunnaki systems from which the later Assyrian and Semitic lore was derived.
In fact this early lore of Mesopotamia can be found to be mainly responsible for the ‘source’ of all the later systems that came to develop in varying cultural-regions on the planet. It is the ‘understanding’ and ‘use’ of the developing beliefs surrounding these ideas that seems to keep the knowledge (and its carriers) ‘separated’.
Quoting from the “Anunnaki & The Kabbalah“ essay/lecture given by Joshua Free in 2008:
Although the concept of ‘Anunnaki Aliens’ became too obscure to behold for the rising civilizations coming afterward to behold – the general theme that became central to all spiritual traditions is: there is an all-powerful Divine Source outside of this time-space that does not necessarily make a visible, beholdable, tangible appearance in this world as we might want to personify, but there are these ‘intermediaries’ or ‘angel’ spirits and demons that seem to reside somewhere between our understanding of existence and this all-encompassing non-fragmented and wholeness realization of the All-as-One.

LESSON 4 – THE ARTS OF SPELLCRAFT SIMPLIFIED
Did you know that simply tying your shoes is an act of spellcraft or magick? Don’t argue with me, yet! The act of spellcraft is to cause a change in accordance with your will, or to make something happen because you want it to. Thus, no matter the means, tying your shoes because you want them tied and causing this manipulated change in physical reality is spellcraft!
Of course, you don’t think about it like this, but essentially that is what it is. If, however, you can come to look at spellcraft in this way, you will find it very simple to master.
The circle is cast, energy is raised, the goal is visualized and energy is released to that outcome. The circle is finally extinguished. Herbs, incense, candles, incantations, etc. are aids in attracting the proper energy. In all forms of magick, especially spellcraft, like attracts like forces or energies. If you want to attract the energy of love and send raised energy of that nature to the outcome, then you need to surround yourself with the tools and aids that will help you in attaining a specific energetic current. The methodology behind spellcraft is limited only by the magician’s imagination.
Also called “low magick,” this practice is the most common method of ritualized use of intention and willpower taught in the New Age. The purpose of the art is to direct the energy of the desires and will of the operator through dramatic representations. [Anthropologists recognize this practice among indigenous shamans in the form of sympathetic magick.]
Spellcraft is most often concerned with influencing change in the mundane/physical world such as fertility, wealth and love. The main tenet is that the currents of energy attached to you in the future are based on the raised energy of emotions, thoughts and actions of the present. Jesus said: “Ask and it shall be given; knock and the door will open.” The wizard learns the more successful questions to “ask” and best means of “knocking.”
Conventional spellcraft and prayer are essentially the same. Most religious practitioners are not instructed in the proper and most effective ways to pray, leaving them at the mercy of established organizations for any real “divine intervention.” But the wizard does not wait for “divine intervention.” The New Age teaches that you are the only one responsible for your own life. God has given you the mental and spiritual faculties to recognize the Right Way to Ascension.
Through proper focus, emotional purity and intention of will, you can attract any ray of light into your life. The definition of spellcraft is really “to see any transformational manifestation occur in the physical world in accordance with will.” It doesn’t matter what means are used, setting and meeting goals for change is a unique awareness of the human mind: you can affect the future by acting in the present. This is no small realization since it has allowed humans to rise above the Animal Kingdom and establish “human civilization.”
The truth is: if your intention is to see something through, it doesn’t really matter if you accomplish this by some form of telepathy or simply some old fashioned hard work (according to Freemasonry). Hopefully, you are traveling a path of the least resistance so as to use the most appropriate energy type in the best way to accomplish your goals.
Ritualized spellcraft can be operated closely to the practices of ceremonial magick, though they tend to have more mundane ends in mind. The use of elemental tablets, elemental weapons, herbs, incense, robes and cloaks can supplement the basic formula of spellcraft. Candle magick is especially useful.
Your working can be as simple or elaborate as you deem necessary. Additional tools and implements can be included only if they actually help you to connect with the desired currents of energy. They should be removed as distractions if they do not assist. For this reason a controlled environment, whether hidden away in Nature or in a room dedicated to magick, should be used. There should be no non-magickal distractions in the nemeton area.] In traditions of high magick, the ritual chambers are often designed with specific parameters in mind and even the lodges of secret societies are reserved for ceremonial purposes only.
Almost every author in the New Age teaches the arts of spellcraft differently. Most texts include the preliminary steps that a practitioner should have developed prior to these attempts. The abilities to be grounded, focused, use breathing techniques and enter the body of light are all paramount to ritual success prior to the “casting of the spell.” Graphic representations of your intentions (pictures, symbols, glyphs) should be prepared ahead of time and the operator must be very familiar with the intended working prior to the physical enactment. [Not doing so accounts for many of the initial failures for practitioners using spellcraft.]
THE SIMPLE SEVENFOLD SPELLCRAFT FORMULA
1. Casting a Circle (conjuring nemeton)
2. Calling Elementals (conjuring external powers)
3. Raising Energy (personal blended with conjured)
4. Visualization (seeing the change as presently occurring)
5. Releasing Energy (see raising energy)
6. Dismissal of Spirits (closing formalities)
7. Extinguishing the Circle (banishing residual energy)
Once the energy raised in energy has been consciously released into the Akasha of the Universe, allow it the chance to resonate and vibrate. The adepts of the ages always advise operators not to dwell on their workings once completed. It is a common mistake made among novices to worry about the effectiveness of the ritual. If you recall this energy back from the Universe with your thoughts, it won’t be “out there” working for you. One common suggestion is to sleep afterward and allow the subconscious process to equalize naturally. This is not usually difficult since most spellcraft operations are performed at night under the correlative lunar and planetary influences.

LESSON 3 – BREATH & WILL
Rhythmic breathing is a prerequisite for most magickal work as part of the initial grounding process (not always indicated in an advanced ritual text). This simply becomes second nature to experienced practitioners. Proper breathing is not only important for your physical well-being, it also affects your ability to meditate, relax or energize your body (and aura).
During deliberate breathing periods, oxygen should be inhaled via the nose and exhaled through the mouth. Breathing solely in and out of the mouth is actually unhealthy because the air is not slowed and warmed through the sinuses. Any mystical work involving energy (which is practically all of it) is enhanced through proper breathing – which distributes energy through the body. When you breathe in you can feel the energy flowing into your pores and flowing through the body.
QUAD-BREATHING Rhythmic breathing skills come from learning to gauge your breath. As you “count” specific intervals, your breath should be steady and maximized. Completely fill and empty your lungs, holding in between. This can be uncomfortable at first, but eventually it should yield a sensation of mild euphoria (as its amazing what proper breathing can do). One popular method we call “quad-breathing,” counting four seconds or heartbeats for each part of the cycle: breathing in (counting to four), holding (counting to four), exhaling (counting. . .) and holding.
By adding visualization imagery, you can project a conceptualized idea (or polarized energy) in the area around you and then interact with it (e.g. breathing it in or exhaling it into an environment). It is imperative for a sorcerer to maintain a true sense of self (in self-honesty). The sorcerer must always be in control of the body and mind – must always have control over the actions and thoughts that ensue from said body and mind. This is called true “willpower” or “self-direction.” Practice at this may require gaining a more awkward routine – pushing your-self to behave in a way you might not normally do. That is to say: don’t allow clocks, schedules and impulsive “desires” to rule your life. When hungry, tired or the like, wait a little while longer. See if you can manipulate these sensations or trans-form them into something else. This is not to say to deprive yourself, but learn to do more than “react.” Learn to actually “act”. This type of training increases one’s control over the body – after all, how can you transcend the physical body if you are bound by it?
A technique referred to as “pore breathing is an advanced breathing method used in energy work or high magick, especially relating to the rays of light. In this form of deliberate breathing, you are to feel yourself inhaling through all the pores of your body. As your breathe in, you absorb an ele-mental energy or color (ray) from every surrounding direction, pulling it through your auric shield. When you exhale, release all the impurities of the body out of your pores as well. This process is called “energetic transfusion.” When raising energy you are drawing in external energies and adding your own vibration (via intentions) before releasing the energy into the Universe.

FREE MAGICK, Lesson Two “Visualization & Ritual” — Merlyn’s School of Magick & Wizardry with Joshua Free
Apprenticeship: Merlyn’s School of Magick & Wizardry — First appearing in “New Babylon Rising” (Issue #2, February 2012) — this ‘apprenticeship lesson’ is part of a cumulative (progressive) curriculum drawn from the work of ‘Merlyn Stone‘ and the “Arcanum” notebooks.
LESSON 2 – VISUALIZATION
A key to the process of magick is the “art” of visualization. This is the innate ability to create images and pictures in the mind. Problems on the physical plane are often created (and even resolved) from the process of “visualization” — where we place our ‘focus’ and process energy through. The mastery of visualization is a mental power which enables a magician or wizard to gain a level of control over the physical world — influencing the ‘lower’ by operating via the ‘higher’. Basic visualization-based rituals follows this formula:
: 1. Raising Energy
:: 2. Visualizing the Desired Change
::: 3. Sending Energy to the Cause
Visualization is the primary ability to maintain conscious control over the subconscious mind using innate faculties of “imagery.” These skills allow you to observe changes as if they have already taken place and put attentive energies into these images. All change actually works on this principle: a person sees the desired change in their mind and then acts.
RITUAL MAGICK — Thus is ritual magick, enabling one to allow changes to occur more rapidly then when left alone to themselves. In magickal terms, this is called the “channeling and harvesting of energy to direct it to a desired target to affect a change.”
In addition to the ability to visualize concrete imagery, the sorcerer must also possess concentration and thought discipline. “Thought magick” requires the mental skills to hold a clear image in the mind for prolong periods of time. This is where most novices will usually require the most personal development to be able to execute effective magick.
VISUALIZATION EXERCISE — Begin by sitting comfortably and allow your thoughts to drift for several minutes. First, go through what you were thinking and cause (or will) it to be replayed as precisely as possible. Next, allow your thoughts to drift and then still your mind, holding one thoughtform in your head for as long as you can. Don’t strain, but focus on a single thought. If your mind begins to wander, gently correct yourself and begin to focus on the thought again. The final step is to keep the mind completely clear of all thoughts for as long as possible. Practice with these basic techniques is essential to gaining the necessary discipline over the mind.
Relaxation is critical to concentration. This is the ability to gain and keep a relaxed state of inner peace at will. Of course, not all magickal practices require a “sedated” state of mind, but absolute clarity in your focus is essential, including self-control and self-discipline, particularly concerning emotional energies. Such workings where violent imagery will better aid magick, would of course, be nullified by “relaxation” for the entire duration, but without proper focus, the energy in the ritual can become “wild magick.”
RELAXATION EXERCISE — Relaxation may be achieved by sitting or laying in a position comfortable and free of having to tense your muscles. When your muscles begin to tense or you get anxious, regulate your breathing and will your muscles to relax. Restlessness is fairly common to those who are not used to such stillness. Becoming proficient in such skills will greatly prepare you for the magickal work ahead.
As a final testament of your ability, try this: relax, clear your mind, then make an intentional recall of a specific recent event – consciously replaying the same stretch of information from memory, capturing as much of the original details as possible. Reproduce the emotional involvement and stimuli: visual, physical sensations, sounds, smells, and so forth.

GREAT MAGICKAL ARCANUM – THE UNIVERSAL UNIFICATION
ARCANUM by Joshua Free is a unique literary contribution toward the harmonic unification of the knowledge that has received many names through the ages: magickal, occult, pseudo-scientific and now, “quantum.” The rise of technology and the recent “information age” has provided a wellspring of metaphysical lore, but it is not mutually synchronous with other knowledge or even other New Age systems, often due to vocabulary use. “New Agers” separate their sects and factions in the same manner as the scientists and the religious officials, and we (as a society) have not been progressing towards global unity. All of our developments and paradigms of truth continue to grow and prove themselves only when isolated within the system in which they were designed.
This innovative presentation requires that YOU have immediate access to supplemental information on any given facet of related knowledge. This is indicated in the text by the appearance of “links” or bold-faced type that prompts YOU to explore other specific parts of the book for additional clarification. This design allowed the author the ability to cover more topics in a tighter space without having to be unnecessarily repetitive in reprinting the more common aspects. This book is not to be mistaken as simply another “A-to-Z Encyclopedia of Magick” or a superficial discourse concerning “where science and magick meet.” In fact, this text was not written for the true beginner in mind and its scope surpasses practical magick alone.
ARCANUM has no specific starting point, allowing it to be integrated into any personal background or developmental stage. With sufficient time, study and practice, the seeker works through the entire body of knowledge, beginning first with the facets of individual fancy and inclination, and then continuing on with the remainder of the entangled material, which you will find to be coherently interconnected, not simply clumped together to make a massive series. By presenting this primer of a new standard model of the mysteries, any individual, couple or study group can find the ease of using this global” system in spite of prior personal religious, spiritual, philosophical, scientific and academic accomplishments.
Throughout history a uniquely separate class of individual has existed on the edges of known reality, bearing a great magickal secret. Some have come to call these folk “wizards” or “mystics,” the possessors of the “hidden” or “occult” knowledge of life and the universe. They alone bring the obscure and “invisible” properties of existence into the light, albeit rarely upholding contemporary norms. And while there has been an observable increase of interest in such topics progressively in recent past, the walls of the Ancient Mystery School have far from collapsed.
At the dawn of a new age, the perceptive seeker discovers a barrier…
The common New Age metaphysicist cannot hope to gain a better understanding of their own consciousness and abilities of thought power until a more complete paradigm is embraced. Consequently, physicists and physical scientists are quickly reaching a glass ceiling in microscopic observation and particle acceleration experiments that exclude all metaphysical facets. In the past, monumental developments have occurred via some form of “unifying framework” (such as the interconnection between the cosmos and the Earth Planet understood in models of elements and forces). It seems self-evident that the only solution to our developmental problems as a society is going to be derived from a unification of knowledge or “bridge in understanding” between all physical and metaphysical paradigms. This is exactly what the wizards and mystics have known for thousands of years; That all physical aspects have metaphysical properties and visa versa.
Hidden within these pages is the true story of the development of civilization, human existence, the traditions and “real magick” adopted by individual hermits, orders and societies at each stage. Unlike many other A-to-Z styled works, ARCANUM is not simply a collection of vocabulary, history and arbitrary biographies, nor is it composed of randomly dispersed pseudo-psychological techniques and spirito-magickal puffery that often runs rampant in the mainstream New Age. Here YOU will follow a practical and experimental journey from ancient Mesopotamia and Egypt through the traditions of “magickal” races and bloodlines of the Europeans. YOU will observe the loss of Truth experienced globally during the Dark Ages, which secret societies have so strongly sought to maintain. Finally, YOU will arrive at the forefront of current developments in “quantum theory” and “unifying fields,” new paradigms reviving old philosophies with new terminology, by which the modern “wizard” can better understand the effects of metaphysical “thought magick” on the physical world and the relationship between the resonance of external-environmental energies and the internal self.
ARCANUM seeks to challenge seekers from any path (whether religious, mystical or scientific) to “shed their skin” for a moment, to release the Ego and their layers of belief and sensory experience in order to discover the antinomian Truth that exists outside the boundaries of all defined systems or paradigms. Rather than take the approach that all systems are “just wrong,” Joshua Free explains that it is simply our “beliefs” concerning each facet or level of reality that are in need of revision. Drawing from diverse sources and traditions, the coherent highlights are presented that can unite the knowledge of varying systems. It validates their comprehensive efforts rather than minimizes them.
ARCANUM prompts all people to embrace their intuition in the light of Truth. For example, during the last century, anthropologists revealed startling confirmations concerning the ancient Mesopotamians and their influence on human genetics and civilization. Sumerian, Babylonian and Akkadian tablets (unavailable to seekers a century ago) now reveal a more ancient source to the Genesis of mankind that was presented to the Hebrew by Moses. The Anunnaki-Nephilim lore of the same geographic region provides the source of angelic mysticism, obscure races of elemental beings and the European faerie folk. The lore preserved by diverse traditions and secret societies show evidence for the belief in specific dynasties and bloodlines of “real” wizards and elves, a folk that have since passed into realms of fantasy and imagination. And these are just a few of the 1,000 facets of knowledge explored within these pages.
ARCANUM is written in simple terms, but it is actually a superior tome of information that surpasses the efforts of other recent “A-to-Z Encyclopedias” or fluffy beginner-oriented texts. It draws from many diverse avenues of knowledge that allows anyone interested in metaphysics to explore it on their own terms, beginning first with the tenets that they are drawn to by personal inclination and then eventually discovering all of the interconnected lore by way of bold-faced links.
The book provides a complete structure and standard by which future developments in this field will have to be rethought to include the metaphysical, psychological, quantum and spiritual significance of meditation, visualization, ritual magick, ceremonial tools, natural magick (herb & trees), “spellcraft,” energy work, auras, chakras, resonant energy in environments, sacred sexuality, the philosophy of knowledge and morals, philosophical and laboratory metaphysics, the contributions of secret societies and magickal organizations, divination, prophecy, skrying, astral work, astrophysics, the interpretations of astrological symbolism, the influence of planets, the symbolism of celestial mythology (Sky Gods), the historical background to Christianity, the effects of the Church through the Dark Ages, the heredity of Dragon Kings, incarnated elemental beings, quantum physics, unified fields, superstrings (string theory) and other waves and particles of energy. Provided within are all the tools YOU, the seeker, require to discover the ARCANUM of life for YOURSELF.
