Dragons are significant archetypes in ancient mythologies and the magickal world of modern wizards. The earliest creation epics (of Sumerian or Ubaid-Sumerian origin) depict the Earth Planet as the “body” of a great dragon, and the skies as the “head.” The ancient Druids, descended from the primordial line of Dragon Kings by way of the Tuatha d’Anu (Tuatha de Dannan), referred to the Earth as a dragon…
Explore this and hundreds of other facets of new age, metaphysical and occult mysteries in Joshua Free’s underground masterpiece: ARCANUM.
The subject of the lesson in this blog also applies strongly in the curriculum of our magnet school: Merlyn’s School of Druidry & Magick.
Additional specialized information specific to ‘dragons’ may also be found in the 15th anniversary edition of Joshua Free’s DRACONOMICON.
DRAGON’S BLOOD (Daemonorpos draco)
A powerful herbal resin derived from the palm tree. It is burned as incense for protection, love/sexuality and fire-gazing (skrying) as attributed to the fire element and Mars. Resonating sacredness, it is burned for the purification of an area or nemeton. Men put pieces of dragon’s blood under their bed or carry it to regain “sexual virility.” The most common ritual application for the substance is dragon magick or dragon calling, although the use of the incense might in part be a incomprehension of “dragon-blood,” an ancient genetic requirement for magickal practice. The resin still vibrates the “feared” draconic energy that has been literally demonized since its designation, “daemonorops,” literally means “demon shrub.” The sap-like resin is drawn from the unripe fruit of the “Dragon’s Blood Palm Tree,” making it almost impossible for most American herbalists to become self-sufficient in their supply. — authorized excerpt from Arcanum by Joshua Free
